Remodeling a home is a lot of work. If you’re looking to give your spaces a fresh look easily, check out these color trends. You can transform an entire room by putting on a new coat of paint.

Check out these popular choices for colorful change:

Greek Blue – Clayton, Garner, and Apex may not have a Mediterranean Sea, but you can bring the feeling of Greece to your home with the same rich, deep blues and contrasting white.

Sour Green or Olive Green – Both are a far cry from that avocado kitchen you remodeled. Sour green paired with blue is a fun way to brighten up some living spaces. When used as an accent, olive green can offer a splash of muted color without overwhelming a space.

Neutral Gray – If you’re going neutral, gray is absolutely the shade of choice for many homeowners right now. It pairs well with a variety of colors and you can choose your own bold or bright shade to liven up a bedroom or a living room.

Other Color Trends

Sour green may not be your thing. No problem. Decorators tell us there are some other popular ways to use color this year:

Mix Bold Colors – The usual thinking is to pair a bold color with something more neutral. But if you’re feeling brave or want to stand out from the neighbors, try mixing two bold shades together for an exciting look.

Marsala – If all else fails, you can try the Pantone Institute’sPaint Cards color of the year. This year they chose marsala, which is a warm and earthy red. They suggest it for a kitchen, but it can add warmth and color to any space.

Accent Wall – You can paint an accent wall in a room. Putting that color on just one wall may sound odd, but it adds interest to the space without overwhelming it. (Tip: Be sure the other walls are a more neutral shade.)

Ceiling Color – Painting the ceilings anything but white or beige sounds odd to a lot of people. But when paired with neutral walls, a bright ceiling can make a space feel larger and more open.

Pro Color Tip

Start with just one room. Putting bold, bright colors in each room of the house often leaves it feeling disjointed. Most Wake County homes today have open concept-style layouts. Be sure your color choices offer some flow as you walk from one room to the next.
